2004--Year in Review

Wed Dec 22, 2004, 12:38 AM
Well, here we are again, at the crossroads of a New Year...
So here are all my Christmas wishes for everyone:
*ahem* MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It's been a great year to spend with all of you. Here are a few ideas on how to spend your next year:

*Years are to be spent and cherished with each other as time goes on so when we're all old and in rocking chairs we'll have something to look back on.

*Live your life like there's no tomorrow because there very well might not BE a tomorrow.

*Reach out your hand to a stranger, because they might need a hand.

*Don't look for a reason to laugh, just do it.

*A picture is worth a thousand words, but a smile is worth so much more.

And finally
*Dreams can be made a reality, so never give up.

Character Sheet*
Character Name: Sepehr (Persian for Sky)
Character Species: Flying/Magic Carpet
Powers: Levitation (of himself and others in Humanoid form)
Flight (of himself and others in carpet form)
Hails From: Persia
Brief Character History/Description:
Many years ago when the desert was still new and the five forms of god were gracious to those who deserved, a lone man moved across the desert slowly but faithfully battling the winds and sand. The man was the last heir to the Persian royal family and he was returning home from a peaceful gathering in a nearby country to talk about trade when he and his entourage was attacked by a group of vicious bandits leaving him with his under robes and nothing else to finish the trip.

The Prince did not resent the men for attacking him, since he felt they would need his riches more than he did and continued across the wasteland that would surely be his own grave. However a small but beautiful voice called to him over the wind and sand, begging for help to anyone who would listen. A fair and beautiful woman was the creator of the music-like voice and she was indeed in quite a bit of trouble. Her foot had become caught under a large stone that would take the strength of at least two men to move. However the prince did not rest until he used all of his strength and pushed the boulder enough for her to wiggle her ankle free.

As soon as the woman was free she transformed herself into her true being. The prince fell upon his face and bowed low to the ground upon seeing the goddess Devi. She kindly told him that he was the only who had stopped to help without asking for anything in return after days of pleading and many passing by without a care. Devi told the Prince that he could have whatever his heart desire was. Expecting the man to ask for riches or beautiful women, Devi was surprised when the Prince merely asked for a way to get home safely and as quickly as possible. The goddess was more than happy to oblige to such a humble request and with a wave of one of her many arms, a young boy appeared in front of the Prince.

The goddess began to explain in her sing-song voice. “This is my son, Sepehr. His name is that of his abilities as he can fly over the desert and take you as far as the sky is endless. He will be your companion as long as you wish it to both you and yours sons or daughters.”

Sepehr understood his duty then, and accepted his mother’s request. In a moment the boy was gone and hovering above the sand was a beautiful Persian rug filled with vibrant reds and gold, and cool sky blues and sapphires like fresh water. Sepehr took the Prince home in a few moments, rather than what would have taken days or weeks upon horseback. Sepehr and the Prince became very close friends over the years, and when it was time he became the Prince’s son’s friend.

Through the years of war and peace Sepehr stayed where he was wanted, never growing a day older than that of the first he came to the family. He took on odd jobs such as being nanny to all the young princesses and princes, to dancing for the royal family. He was never asked to do anything he didn’t want to do, no matter the request.

Finally it came to a noble king; he was greatly noted for his peaceful ways and generous nature. The man grew old and had no desire to give a child to succeed his throne, as he was very fond of one of his nephews and planned on giving the throne to him. However the king saw how much his heir-to-be greatly desired Sepehr who had been the king’s constant companion since birth to his well aged present. Though the king knew that his nephew would be a marvelous king, he was not willing to give up the boy that had been with him loyally over the decades.

The king came up with a brilliant idea to achieve both of his goals, and in a peaceful way. Upon his deathbed, the king reached over and gave his last command to Sepehr. He told the flying carpet that he wanted him to have a proper education past the lands of the burning sands. The king also named Sepehr his next heir, making Sepehr his own master. Then the peaceful king passed away painlessly.

Sepehr knew it was silly for him to stay on as king, since there would be no other kings before or after him since he still looked not a day over 17 years of age. He declined his new throne and passed it to the nephew that the former King had intended, but his freedom was already given and he would forever be an immortal Prince of Persia. Sepehr began to head west in search of his final command. A proper education outside of the only land he knew…his father’s last request.

*cries*

My god... I am so upset it's not even FUNNY... Like the kind of angry-sadness that makes you do stupid things like break a fine china vase or cut yourself up and stuff...

I was going to try one last time to get into the gallery... Well I DID try one last time... And I went out with a bang... Not just one entry... TWO... If I was going to fail again, I was going to fail large... Naturally, neither one got in... So I clicked through the entries like I always do... I mean, I respect other people's art that gets in so I'll click though them all... It was the usual "Squiggles or Veterans" deal... That still didn't bother me...

What bothers me the most is there are TWO people who got in TWICE for Draik Day... Twice... And I haven't even gotten in once... In 4 years... EVER... I suppose it shouldn't hurt after 4 years of rejection... But it bothers me... ALOT... I can take critism and ideas to be better but this is like that guy from American Idol who just sits there and says "YOU SUCK!! GET OFF THE STAGE!!"

I understand they're great artists and all... But I mean alot of good artists, even great ones, deserve a chance... That could have been two spaces left open for someone else... -I- might have actually gotten in... But no... Let's let the people who have gotten in 36 times get in again... So they can point and laugh at everyone else...
